Dear Pendle Hill: Photographs by Maura Williams
Thirty photographs taken at Pendle Hill between 2008 and 2010 by Maura Williams are featured in her exhibit "Dear Pendle Hill" from July 4 through September 30 in the Barn. All are welcome to attend an artist reception on Tuesday, September 13, 7:00-9:00 pm in the Barn.
Since 2000, Maura Williams has participated in many Pendle Hill workshops, with three specifically related to photography. The workshop leaders who have inspired her include Jan Phillips in 2000, Beth Kingsley Hawkins in 2003, and Sharon Gunther in 2009. Each workshop was influential and helped Maura develop new perspectives and experience a deepening of vision, purpose, and feeling in her photography.
Maura lives in nearby Lansdowne, attends Lansdowne Friends Meeting, and is a member of the Fellowship of Quakers in the Arts (FQA). Her closeness to Pendle Hill has enabled her to visit often. She's come some twenty times as a personal spiritual and stress-reducing practice she calls her "Pendle Hill pilgrimages," and attended this past year's speaker series "The Way of the Artist."
In September, Maura will participate in the 9th Annual Lansdowne Arts Festival. She first began to show and sell her work at this festival nine years ago.
For each of the photos on exhibit in the Pendle Hill Barn, Maura handled the printing, custom cut the mats, and did the framing. She also has photo note cards of Pendle Hill scenes which will be available for sale in the Pendle Hill Bookstore. In September she will have available a 2012 decorative desk-top calendar, also featuring photographs taken at Pendle Hill.
