The Way of the Artist

Music as Prayer for the World

7:30-9pm in the Barn.

Ben Tousley Folksinger and chaplain Ben Tousley will offer songs and stories illuminating how the source of prayer and the source of music are one, rising from the heart of Creation and the rhythms of our everyday lives.  Ben will trace the redemptive power of music in the Prophets, Psalms, and incantation of native peoples through contemporary expressions, including his own songs inspired from his experience working in hospice, in homeless and psychiatric settings, as a cancer survivor and as an advocate for peace and justice.

Ben has offered concerts and retreats to meetings throughout New England, concerts and workshops  at New England Yearly Meeting, FWCC and Pendle Hill, and residencies at Earlham College and Guilford College. A graduate of Harvard Divinity School, Ben has worked as a chaplain to hospice patients, elders and college students, the homeless and the bereaved and is adjunct faculty member of Springfield College School of Human Services.  Ben has traveled widely as a folksinger and storyteller to schools, libraries, colleges and faith communities along the East Coast and in other regions.  He has recorded six albums of original songs including his recent CD “Take My Hand.”
