Public invited to "Benjamin Franklin Abolitionist?" Saturday, March 3, 7:30 p.m.
Benjamin Franklin was president of an abolitionist society, yet he held slaves. Join scholar and Pendle Hill General Board member Amanda Kemp and three professional actors as they present "Benjamin Franklin Abolitionist? American Slavery, American Freedom," on Saturday, March 3, 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the Barn at Pendle Hill. The presenters invite you to meet Jemim, Peter, Othello, George, and King, who were all held as slaves by Benjamin Franklin. Music, movement, and humor will be used to dramatize how Ben Franklin's slaveholding and abolitionism might have affected eighteenth-century African-Americans. This presentation, which is free and open to the public, is suitable for audiences aged 8 and above. No reservations are necessary. For more information, call (610) 566-4507, ext. 3 or email registrar@pendlehill.org.
