Dave Dobbins Shares Historic Preservation Skills

Dave Dobbins, Pendle Hill’s maintenance coordinator, was recently cited in the local Town Talk for his work with Methodist youth mission team members at the historic Chester Heights Camp Meeting. Dave, along with former Pendle Hill staff person Vivian Lovingood and others, volunteered to “deconstruct” (i.e., “take down”) a 105 year-old building and then share his knowledge and experience with the youth. The youth mission team members plan to make use of their new skills when they travel to Gulfport, Mississippi in July to work on roofing and drywalling homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Dave has a rich background in construction of buildings – historic and modern. He has helped renovate important historic sites, including the Harriet Beecher Stowe house and Buckeye Furnace. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Historical Society and the Property Committee of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends, which oversees construction of Quaker meeting houses. He has played major roles in renovating many of Pendle Hill’s buildings. In addition to his work at Pendle Hill, Dave owns Dream Finishers, a local construction company.
