Join Walter Naegle March 31 for Free Public Screening and Discussion of Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin
Bayard Rustin was an African-American Quaker, pacifist, and early civil rights activist. His charismatic personality and strong organizing skills were major factors behind the 1963 March on Washington. Yet his pacifism, early involvement with Communists, and open homosexuality led some of his colleagues to push him to the background.
The film Brother Outsider, co-directed and produced by award-winners Nancy Kates and Bennett Singer, combines rare archival footage with insightful interviews to illuminate Bayard Rustin's life and 60-year career. Join Walter Naegle, Bayard's partner and adopted son, for a screening and discussion of the film on Saturday, March 31 at 7:30 pm. in the Barn at Pendle Hill. This event is free and open to the public. No reservations are required. For directions to Pendle Hill
The screening of Brother Outsider is a special event that is part of a weekend conference led by Hal Weaver, "Lift Every Voice and Sing": Paul Robeson and Bayard Rustin. For more information
