Summer Resident Students and YALDers Join the Pendle Hill Community
On Friday, June 22, Pendle Hill held a welcoming reception and gathering in the Barn for Summer Term students. Joining staff and community members for the welcome were the Young Adult Leadership Development (YALD) Program participants who had arrived the Sunday before. The Summer Term students have selected their courses from among 18 workshops and retreats and two termlong courses in arts and spirituality, Quakerism, educational theory, prayer, bodywork, and more. The YALDers are combining service work on and off campus with workshops, courses, and community life. This summer's community is diverse; YALD participants come from Tanzania, Bangladesh, Australia and Nigeria, as well as from across the United States, including California, Florida, North Carolina and Maine.
