The focus of Eileen Flanagan’s work is to help people discern divine guidance and live with less anxiety. She has taught Discerning Our Calls many times for the Pendle Hill Resident Program. She also gives talks and leads related workshops for a range of organizations.
While a student at Pendle Hill in 1992-93, Eileen discerned a leading to write about discernment. Her newest book, The Wisdom to Know the Difference, offers spiritual tools to discern when to let go and when to stand up for what matters. It has been endorsed by the Dalai Lama and won a 2010 silver Nautilus Book Award. Her other works include the Pendle Hill pamphlet God Raising Us: Parenting as a Spiritual Practice and Listen with Your Heart: Seeking the Sacred in Romantic Love (which began as a Festival Week presentation). Her articles have appeared in publications like Tikkun, as well as online venues such as Beliefnet, Guideposts, and the Washington Post’s On Faith column.
Eileen holds a BA from Duke University and an MA from Yale.
